中國人民銀行金融市場司司長鄒瀾1月18日在新聞發布會上表示，我國穩妥推進數字人民幣研發試點，截至2021年12月31日，數字人民幣試點場景已超過808萬個，累計開立個人錢包2.61億個，交易金額近875.7億元。

　　China's digital yuan transactions hit nearly 87.57 billion yuan at the end of 2021, as the country ramped up research and pilot use of the central bank's digital currency. A total of 261 million personal wallets for the digital yuan had been opened, and the number of pilot scenarios had exceeded 8.08 million, said Zou Lan, an official with the People's Bank of China, at a press conference Tuesday.

　　數字人民幣是中國人民銀行（以下簡稱“央行”）發行的數字形式的法定貨幣，由指定運營機構參與運營，以廣義賬戶體系為基礎，支持銀行賬戶松耦合功能，與實物人民幣等價，具有價值特征和法償性。

　　數字人民幣主要定位于現金類支付憑證，主要用于滿足國內零售支付需求。在未來的數字化零售支付體系中，數字人民幣和指定運營機構的電子賬戶資金具有通用性，共同構成現金類支付工具。

　　央行對數字貨幣的研發始于2014年；2016年，央行成立了數字貨幣研究院，完成法定數字貨幣第一代原型系統搭建，加快數字人民幣的研發步伐；2017 年，央行組織商業機構開展數字人民幣研發試驗；自2020年至今，數字人民幣進入推廣落地階段。
